When a Zabbix Trigger Fires
Your Phone Rings

Receive voice phone calls when a host goes down, a service fails, disk fills up or a critical threshold is exceeded. Alertalk finds you before email notifications are even read.

Host Down — Nobody Notices While You Sleep

Zabbix fired a critical trigger at 3:00 AM. Email came in, wasn't read. When the team arrived in the morning, the production server had been down for 6 hours and customers couldn't reach it.

There's no ready-made solution for Zabbix voice alert, host down phone notification or Zabbix trigger voice warning — Alertalk was built to fill this gap.

Scenario: A critical database server goes down at night. Zabbix sends an email but the on-call engineer doesn't check their phone. Nobody intervenes until morning. With Zabbix voice alert, the phone would have rung.

How Does It Work?

1

Zabbix Trigger Fires

An event such as host down, service failure or critical threshold breach occurs. Zabbix action kicks in.

2

Media Type Webhook Triggers

The Alertalk webhook URL defined in Zabbix's Media Type feature is called. Host name, trigger name and severity are automatically transmitted.

3

Your Phone Rings

Alertalk calls you. The voice message announces the host name and alarm status. 3:00 AM doesn't matter, you are notified within seconds.

Which Zabbix Events Will Call You?

Voice alerts can be configured for all Zabbix triggers. Most commonly used:

Host Unreachable / Down Disk Space Critical High CPU Usage Service Down High Memory Usage Network Interface Down Database Connection Failed Website Unreachable SSL Certificate Expiring Custom Trigger (Disaster)

Zabbix Media Type Integration

Add Alertalk as a Webhook under Zabbix Administration → Media Types. Get your webhook key from the dashboard.

Headers: Content-Type: application/json

Body:
{
  "message": "{TRIGGER.NAME} — {HOST.NAME} ({TRIGGER.SEVERITY})"

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a voice alert when a Zabbix host goes down? +

Register with Alertalk, upgrade to WebApi plan and get your webhook key. Define the Alertalk webhook URL as a Media Type in Zabbix and assign it to your user. The next host down trigger will call your phone immediately. See the Zabbix integration guide for step-by-step setup.

Which Zabbix versions does it work with? +

Works with all Zabbix versions 4.0 and above. Compatible with any Zabbix environment that supports webhook Media Type.

Does it only call for Disaster severity, or Warning too? +

You can select the severity levels you want in Zabbix Action settings. You can receive alerts for Disaster only, High+Disaster, or all severities.

Does it notify when the alert is resolved (Recovery)? +

Yes. You can also connect Zabbix Recovery action to the Alertalk webhook. This way you receive voice notifications for both the alert and its resolution.
